The weather the last few days have been a bit 'grey' but last week Cairns showing off its glorious best. I know because they are the days when we go down to our local beach. And we did that last week, five days out of seven.
I'm not really one to go in the water though when the weather has been cool. Cooler weather equals cooler water. (!) I can't say the same for Lyndon and Monet though, as they frolicked in the water on the weekend. Besides not being a fan of cool water (I'm too much of a Queensland wuss now with the water temperature being 20 degrees Celsius, it is still too cool for me) and I'm not a fan of waves with murky water, as our local beach was last weekend. (However if the water was crystal clear and warmer I probably would have jumped in. I'm fussy like that.)
Instead, I stayed dry on the sand and kept a close eye on them.
Monet really enjoys being down the beach - I hope she remembers days like those in years to come. We spend ages building little sandcastles and collecting little shells and rocks to put on them, we spend ages doing drawings in the sand...
(This one is a joint effort of both Monet and I and our portrait of Lyndon!)
...and ages running around and laughing.
*sigh*
But today (and all this week in fact) it has been grey. I needed to brighten up my day a little.
*sigh*

Sands through the hour glass - LOL.
We love the beach, too, and I know exactly what you mean about being a QLD wuss!
That's a beautiful portrait of Lyndon :)
Well, I recognised Lyndon!
Nice header...
Your sand pictures are great! I want a Ms Mac in the sand!
Lyndon ate Australia ??
I'm not much for non-perfect water either. Much prefer to sit with my camera on the sand :)
P.S. - loved your Europe posts .. read them in Bloglines, but am behind on my reading and didn't comment :p
Bad bad h&b !!!
I'm with you - below 25 deg and my cardie comes out....there's buckleys of me getting into the water. We have a huge pool at home - there it stays, minus my body! And the beach - the wind always waits to blow until I am exiting the water!!!!
Boy and his mates are swimming after school and Boy and step dad love going for a swim at Ellis.
Crazy people!
Hope Lyndon recovered from his indigestion after swallowing Australia - or is it a tattoo around his belly button?
Melody you better believe Monet is going to remember these times. You are making huge deposits that will pay off in her life as she grows to an adult.
I'm like you when it comes to water. It has to be warm and clear.
Although...at this time of year im Melbourne, Cairns' murky and cooler water looks quite attractive!
Hey Melody, your photos are great!
I tagged you - stop by my blog to see what it's all about. :)
I too have a fairly high wuss factor in getting into the cold water!!!
I thought Australia was his heart.
Days on the beach - oh it sounds bliss! I love the sea adn I miss not being close to it anymore (the local docks are not the same somehow!).
Love the portrait of Lyndon. I wonder what he thought of it? ;)
