Far Northern Queensland was at its spectacular best today. It seems like ages when there hasn't been a breath of wind, pure blue skies and sapphire coloured water up here.
July the 27th to me, always meant cold, blustery, wintery days, dinner at the local Chinese restaurant in the country town I grew up in, EJ (Teddy) Whitten's birthday (don't ask) and my sister's birthday. Yeah, it is my big sister's birthday today. Happy birthday Kimbofo!
But today, we woke to this glorious day and needed to do something. We needed to get out and soak up this lovely weather and so we did. We drove the 45-odd minutes up to Port Douglas.
It was just what we needed to gather our thoughts and appreciate where we live and the track we've driven to get to where we are today...(Can you tell we are in the middle of a dilemma?)
And then you see the unexpected to make you rethink things again.
Happy Birthday Kimbofo once again. Enjoy your day. (I know our gift arrived but did our card?)

Thank you for my birthday wishes!
Your photographs are lovely. How delicious does that sky and water look. We have been having beautiful weather here in London this past week -- 25 degrees every day and blue blue skies!!
The chandelier is cool!! ;)
Happy Birthday to Kimbofo!
Port Douglas looks just the place to go and gather your thoughts. Hope you got a new perspective on your dilemma which helped you.
Overcast again here after almost promising sunshine. Happy birthday to your sister.
Oh Melosy...This is such a gorgeous beautiful PEACEFUL place...! I hope that ALL that you saw today eased whatever your dilemma is, my dear...! And that...Wel, whatever it is that is hanging---Very Very Beautiful!
My sister's been in Pt. D. this week for a wedding, lucky duck !!
How cool is that chandelier ?!?!?
I'm amazed no-one's tried to vandalise it - i noticed the spotties, it must be amazing to watch twinkle in the nighttime .. ahhh ... :)
Well that is unusual! It is nice to know that no one has stolen something so pretty.
Wow, great location! and I love that chandelier !! What a cool place to put it!! Happy bday to your sis also! Hope she had a terrific day!
There really is nowhere more beautiful than FNQ.
Happy birthday to your sister and EJ. I hope he's still "sticking it up em!!"
Oh, that looks a whole lot warmer than down this end of the State. Sun just makes one feel better, I think! HB to the sister :)
I *love* Port Douglas...haven't managed to get there for quite some time though. It's looking seriously appealing at the moment though as we shiver in the south.
That chandelier and mirror ball!? Perfectly bizarre. Perfectly crazy. Perfect.
